A significant Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed at Palazzo Piacentini between the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (Mimit), the Chinese company MingYang Smart Energy, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers, and Renexia, an Italian company from the Toto Group active in the renewable energy sector. The agreement, signed in the presence of the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, lays the groundwork for the creation of a new company (Newco) in Italy dedicated to the construction of wind turbines.
Strengthening Italy's industrial supply chain
With this agreement, the Italian government aims to complete and strengthen the national wind energy supply chain, particularly in the floating offshore wind sector, which is strategic and rapidly growing. "This important agreement allows us to develop turbine production in Italy and create a highly competitive national supply chain," stated Minister Urso. The partnership aligns with the goals of both ministries and governments to promote the development of green technologies.
A project worth 500 million euros and 1,100 jobs
The Newco, born from this collaboration, plans to establish a manufacturing site that is expected to create around 1,100 jobs. The investment for this project is estimated at approximately 500 million euros. The location of the site will be determined, in agreement with the government, within the next 90 days.
Strengthened international collaboration
The signing of this MOU is part of a broader cooperation agreement between Mimit and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People's Republic of China. This agreement was prepared during Minister Urso's mission to Beijing at the beginning of July and was later signed during the recent visit of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to China.
