One of Poland’s largest wind farms reaches commercial operation

Ignitis Renewables has announced the start of commercial operations at the Silesia II wind farm, located in southern Poland in the Opole Voivodeship.

The wind farm is equipped with 38 Nordex N117/3600 turbines, has a total installed capacity of 137 MW, and can generate enough electricity to meet the annual demand of around 177,000 households. It is among the largest operational wind farms in Poland.

According to the company, the total investment in the wind farm — including the acquisition price and construction costs — is expected to reach €240 million.

Darius Maikštnas, CEO of Ignitis Group, stated: “The Silesia wind farm is an important part of our green generation portfolio. Each project of this scale allows us to move closer to our strategic priority of reaching between 4 and 5 GW of installed green capacity by 2030. We are proud to strengthen our operations in Poland, contributing to the green transformation of the entire region.”
