Qualitas Energy to repower four wind farms in Germany

Qualitas Energy has acquired four wind farms in Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, for a turbine repowering initiative that will increase the installed capacity from 10 MW to 34 MW.

This upgrade will optimize land use at the site and provide sustainably generated wind energy to more than 22,000 homes.

This repowering initiative adds to others announced by the company in recent months, including the acquisition of a wind farm with 32 turbines near the German North Sea coast, which, once repowered, will reach a capacity of 21.6 MW.

“With this acquisition, we are expanding our wind energy project portfolio and reinforcing our commitment to delivering innovative energy solutions in collaboration with local communities,” explains Johannes Overbeck, Co-CEO of Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH. “By modernizing older wind farms, we not only improve energy efficiency but also contribute to long-term energy security and a sustainable energy supply for future generations.”

This transaction is also the first since the recent appointment of Clemens Susen as the new head of investments for Qualitas Energy Deutschland GmbH, reinforcing the company's investment strategy in the country. "We acquire wind energy projects and portfolios at all stages of development and are committed to their implementation, ensuring the protection of the interests of local stakeholders and development partners," he added.
