Brazilian market is conducive to the success of renewable sources: Array STI Norland
The scenario for renewable energies in Brazil for 2023 is very positive, according to industry experts. For the same reason, Review Energy wanted to talk to Vinicius Gibrail, General Director of Array STI Norland Brazil, a key player that participated in Energyear Brazil and one of the world’s leading utility?scale manufacturers of solar trackers.
Review Energy: What is Brazil's potential regarding solar energy development?
Vinicius Gibrail: Brazil is one of the countries with the greatest potential for developing solar energy due to the high incidence of sunlight for most of the year, in all regions. Recently, the solar source reached the milestone of more than 23 gigawatts of operational installed power, surpassing wind power and becoming the second-largest source of energy in the country.
RE: What will be Array STI Norland's plan this year in the Brazilian market?
VG: For this year, we intend to continue expanding our business around the world and continue offering products and solutions with the best cost-effectiveness in the market.
We want more and more to help expand the generation of energy from renewable sources, transparently and completely, maintaining the high expectations of the market.
RE: What makes Brazil different from other markets in the world and why has Array STI Norland bet on it?
VG: In addition to the issue of the abundance of natural resources already mentioned, the Brazilian market is conducive to the success of renewable sources also due to the potential for expansion, owing to the country's extensive territory and the high investment potential, presenting an emerging market with many opportunities, attractive and dynamic.
Thanks to the country's environmental importance, its dimensions and because it is home to some of the main biomes, there is a strong impetus for the energy transition to occur as quickly as possible. For this reason, more than a bet, we are concerned with providing this support and offering the best to help implement clean energy projects for a more sustainable world.
RE: What are still the barriers that the country has to overcome to continue expanding in the photovoltaic sector?
VG: To continue expanding, it is necessary to increasingly diversify renewable sources, but Brazil still registers a large percentage of the use of non-renewable and polluting sources for energy generation, for example: fuel for vehicles and cooking gas.
In addition, tax benefits are scarcer, which may slightly decrease the attractiveness of smaller projects. Therefore, it is important to have more consolidated data on the environmental potentials and restrictions of each region to focus more efficiently on the distribution of clean sources across the country.
RE: What have been the strategies that have generated the growth of Array STI Norland in Brazil?
VG: We focus mainly on offering quality products and services for all types and sizes of projects that are required of us. Thus, we customize each project according to the needs of each client, taking into account factors such as climate, soil, and other extreme factors such as possible floods or windstorms. In addition, another key factor is our logistics. We have factories strategically located that allow us to deliver our products and send technicians to the plants in a short period, which helps us to speed up deadlines and provide the best possible support.
