Capacitypedia: a new European platform centralising grid capacity data
Europe will be able to have a unified view of public information through a new digital platform launched by European electricity system operators, following the introduction of Capacitypedia, presented on 22 May 2026 during the 12th Energy Infrastructure Forum in Copenhagen.
The initiative has been developed by ENTSO-E and DSO Entity, with the aim of improving access to information on available grid hosting capacity across Europe’s transmission and distribution networks.
Capacitypedia compiles publicly available data voluntarily provided by participating Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Rather than replacing national publications, the platform complements them by offering a structured, Europe-wide overview that helps users navigate, compare, and better understand the information available in different countries.
The portal provides direct links to national webpages where the original data is published by relevant operators or countries, ensuring traceability and transparency. It also features an interactive map of Europe with colour-coded countries indicating whether TSO and DSO hosting capacity information is available within the platform.

In addition, Capacitypedia organises information by country and operator, allowing users to access different levels of detail depending on their needs. The platform will be updated regularly to ensure that the most recent information is available.
According to its promoters, the launch of Capacitypedia represents a key milestone in cooperation between TSOs and DSOs in Europe, strengthening transparency, coordination, and knowledge-sharing within the electricity system at a time of accelerating grid expansion and energy transition.
