Italian municipalities can access €232 million for renewable energy
The Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has announced a major initiative to promote sustainability and energy efficiency in municipalities across the country. Through the C.S.E. 2025 programme (Comuni per la Sostenibilità e l’Efficienza energetica), €232 million will be allocated to finance renewable energy projects and reduce energy consumption in public buildings, including interventions for the production of renewable energy in municipal administration buildings.
The measure will enable municipalities to access funds covering 100% of eligible costs for the installation of photovoltaic systems, solar thermal panels, heat pumps, efficient lighting systems (relamping), high-performance windows, and hybrid solutions.
The resources come from the Complementary Operational Programme (POC) Energy and Territorial Development 2014-2020 and aim to accelerate the energy transition in municipal administrations.
The negotiation process with economic operators within the Electronic Market of Public Administration (MePA) will begin on 8 April, and from 15 April, municipalities will be able to start submitting their funding applications. The official opening of the application submission desk will be on 5 May.
"This measure represents a step forward in supporting Italian municipalities in the energy transition, with concrete interventions to promote sustainable development," stated the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto.
This initiative reinforces Italy’s commitment to energy efficiency and the use of renewable sources, aligning with national and European objectives for emissions reduction and environmental sustainability.
