Automa marks first international event as a DNV company at KEY 2026

Automa will mark a new chapter in its international journey at KEY Energy Italy 2026participating for the first time as part of the DNV ecosystem. The event, organized by Italian Exhibition Group, will take place in Rimini and is one of Europe’s leading platforms for renewable energy and energy transition technologies.

At stand C1/211, Automa will showcase how its digital solutions — now strengthened by DNV’s global expertise — are accelerating the digital transformation of power systems worldwide.

strategic combination to accelerate the energy transition

DNV’s acquisition of Automa closes a key strategic gap in its portfolio. While DNV already held strong capabilities in renewable monitoring and digital solutions, Automa adds advanced expertise in transmission and distribution substation operations and grid control. This integration enables true vertical coverage across generation, transmission, distribution and data intelligence, positioning DNV Energy Systems as a comprehensive one-stop shop for utilities and energy players navigating the global energy transition.

With the addition of Automa, DNV consolidates a digital energy platform of approximately 1,200 professionals, bringing together its Digital Solutions teamGreenPowerMonitor and Automa’s 300 employees, more than 200 of whom are engineers. According to DNV Energy Systems leadership, this critical mass strengthens the division’s ability to lead digital transformation efforts in a sector undergoing rapid change.

Brazilian technology with global ambition

Automa brings more than 20 years of operations and is recognized as a leader in technical solutions for utilities in Brazil. Its systems currently monitor and manage around 60 GW of renewable capacity worldwide and approximately one-third of Brazil’s electricity. Over the past two years, the company has advanced its internationalization strategy, delivering projects in several European countries and generating roughly 10% of its revenue from Europe and the United States.

The integration with DNV, present in nearly 100 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Africa, is expected to accelerate Automa’s global expansion and significantly reduce its time to market. Growth expectations are ambitious, with projections indicating the potential for the company to more than double in size in the coming years.

Integration, digitalization and electrification

The combination is built on a clear thesis: integration, digitalization and electrification will define the future of the power sector. As electrification accelerates globally, driven by renewable deployment and the rise of data centers and AI-driven demand, the need for smarter grids, advanced control rooms and operational efficiency becomes increasingly urgent.

Executives highlight that digitalization is central to ensuring competitiveness and energy security. In Brazil, where rapid renewable expansion has led to structural curtailment challenges due to transmission constraints, digital optimization has already demonstrated measurable gains, including double-digit performance improvements in constrained renewable scenarios and efficiency increases in hydropower operations. The industry focus is shifting from building more capacity to operating existing assets more intelligently.

The partnership also strengthens capabilities in cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, advanced asset monitoring, forecasting integration and virtual power plant solutions, reinforcing the role of integrated digital infrastructure in supporting a more resilient power system.

Continuity and confidence

Despite becoming part of DNV, Automa will continue operating independently, preserving its brand, leadership and local operations. The founders remain in place, and the company maintains its focus on culture and value creation, reinforcing continuity for clients and partners.

At KEY Energy Italy 2026Automa will present how the combination of Brazilian technological expertise and DNV’s global platform is creating a stronger digital powerhouse to accelerate the energy transition in Brazil and worldwide.
