Boviet Solar Technology Co. Ltd., a Vietnam-based solar energy technology firm specializing in the production of monocrystalline PV cells, Gamma Series™ Monofacial, and Vega Series™ Bifacial PV Modules, has announced today its decision to establish its inaugural production facility in North America, selecting Greenville, Pitt County, North Carolina as the site.

Contribution to the economic landscape

The manufacturing facility will be developed in two phases and represents a total investment of $294 million. It is projected to generate around 908 skilled jobs locally and contribute positively to the economic landscape once fully operational. This facility marks Boviet Solar’s maiden manufacturing venture in the United States and its second globally, following its established track record of PV cell and module production in Vietnam.

The PV module manufacturing facility will focus on producing Boviet Solar’s TOPCon N-Type cell and technology-based Monofacial and Bifacial PV modules, catering to residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale clients in the U.S.

Two phases

Phase one will involve repurposing an existing building for module production, while phase two will entail constructing a cutting-edge 500,000 to 600,000-square-foot factory on 34 acres dedicated to PV cell manufacturing. The site is anticipated to yield 2 GW of solar panels and PV cells annually. The official opening and commencement of mass production are scheduled for Q1 2025.

Impressions of Boviet Solar in the U.S. solar industry

Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina enthusiastically welcomed Boviet Solar to the state, underscoring North Carolina's standing as a focal point for clean energy and its conducive business climate.

Representative Don Davis, representing North Carolina’s 1st District, underscored the favorable effects of Boviet Solar’s investment in the area, highlighting its role in fostering innovation and sustainability initiatives.

Mayor P.J. Connelly of Greenville echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the collective endeavors that facilitated Boviet Solar's selection of the community and the substantial economic advantages it offers.

The U.S. solar industry has been pivotal for Boviet Solar since its market entry in 2017, and the company has maintained Bloomberg New Energy Finance Tier 1 PV Module Manufacturer status since the same year.
