Hardin II Solar in Ohio now operational, delivering 150 MW of clean energy

Invenergy, a leading developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, has announced that its Hardin II Solar Energy Center in Hardin County, Ohio, has commenced commercial operations. The 150 MW solar project will provide clean, renewable energy to the region, contributing to the local electrical grid’s reliability and energy capacity.

As part of the project, Meta has signed an agreement to purchase the renewable energy produced by Hardin II Solar. This partnership will help Meta meet its goal of matching its electricity use with 100% clean and renewable energy. "Meta continues to invest in opportunities that support our efforts to match our electricity use with 100 percent clean and renewable energy," said Urvi Parekh, Global Head of Energy at Meta. "This Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreement with Hardin II Solar further advances our energy goals, while also benefiting the local community."

Invenergy’s solar projects bring significant economic benefits to the communities they serve. Hardin II Solar, which supported over 400 jobs during its construction, will generate more than $78 million in local investment, including property taxes, landowner payments, and wages. The project will also provide funding for public schools, emergency services, and local infrastructure.

“I’m happy to participate in a project that enables many farmers, like me, to add a different and steady income stream,” said Tim Scarbrough, a landowner involved in the Hardin II Solar project. “The Invenergy team has also spent time giving back to the whole community by supporting local events and increasing funding for schools and emergency fire and EMS services.”

The Hardin II Solar project is part of Invenergy’s growing solar portfolio in Ohio. Over the next year, the company anticipates the commercial launch of Hardin III Solar and expects to begin construction on two more solar projects in 2025.

Invenergy’s commitment to clean energy is evident in its portfolio of over 33,000 MW of projects currently in operation, construction, or contracted across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.
