Avangrid has started installing solar panels at Oregon Trail Solar, a 57 MWdc (41 MWac) photovoltaic project in Gilliam County, Oregon, marking a key milestone in the construction of the facility.

The project is expected to enter commercial operation next year and will feature more than 100,000 solar panels. Once completed, it will generate enough clean electricity to supply approximately 10,000 US homes annually.

Construction of Oregon Trail Solar is supporting around 200 jobs while contributing to the growing demand for clean electricity in the United States. The project is also expected to provide long-term economic benefits to the region through property taxes and other local contributions that will help fund public services, including schools and infrastructure.

The solar plant expands Avangrid's renewable energy portfolio in Oregon, where the company already operates more than 2.5 GW of installed capacity. Oregon Trail Solar is being developed adjacent to the 205 MWdc (162 MWac) Pachwáywit Fields solar facility, which is already in operation, and the 41 MW / 82 MWh Shutler Energy Storage project.

Beyond its generation assets, Avangrid also operates its National Training Center in Sherman County and maintains a major corporate office in Portland, reinforcing its long-term presence in the state.

Through Oregon Trail Solar, Iberdrola continues to expand its investment in US energy infrastructure, supporting a more reliable, competitive and sustainable electricity system while helping meet rising power demand, creating jobs and contributing to local economic development.
