Meta and Solarpack team up to boost renewable energy in Indiana

Meta and Solarpack have inked two strategic agreements poised to reshape Indiana's energy landscape. These pacts pave the way for the construction of two solar projects, marking a significant step towards sustainability in the region.

The solar projects, boasting a combined capacity of 210 MW (280 MWdc), will rise thanks to the collaboration between Meta and Solarpack. These ventures not only bolster Meta's presence in Indiana but also support its operations in line with its recent investment in an $800 million data center.

Meta and Solarpack: a strategic bond

Meta, has found in Solarpack a partner to realize its vision of a greener future. The signing of two long-term PPAs with Solarpack underscores Meta's steadfast commitment to emissions reduction and the promotion of clean energy.

With Indiana currently sourcing only 10% of its energy from renewables, these projects represent a crucial stride towards a carbon-free future in the state. In addition to aiding the fight against climate change, they are expected to generate jobs and other benefits for the local community.

A milestone for Solarpack in the United States

For Solarpack, this agreement marks a significant milestone in its expansion in the U.S. market. With 2.3 GW of renewable projects in the pipeline across various states, the company takes pride in contributing to local carbon-free energy generation.

Since 2020, Meta has been operating on 100% renewable energy and has achieved net-zero emissions globally. With the ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2030, the firm continues to lead the way towards a greener, more sustainable future.

Leo Moreno, CEO of Solarpack, commented: ‘We are excited both to support Meta's decarbonisation goals and to reach this important milestone for Solarpack in the US, a key growth market for us. In addition, we are proud to offer global decarbonisation solutions that support local carbon-free power generation in the data centre environment.’
