Solar Steel highlights convergence of design efficiency, durability and bankability in tracker evolution
Gonvarri Solar Steel used its participation at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich to showcase the evolution of its TracSmarT+1P solar tracker and reinforce its positioning as a global leader in utility-scale solar tracking solutions.
The company presented its latest technological developments from booth A6.370, where it also introduced the new tracker design following its official market launch earlier in June. The showcase focused on engineering-driven innovation, industrial scalability and long-term reliability for large-scale photovoltaic projects.
The company arrives at the event backed by a strong market position, ranking as the number one solar tracker supplier in Spain for the third consecutive year, second in Europe, and among the global Top 4 tracker manufacturers according to Wood Mackenzie’s Tier 1 / Grade A classification.
Bankability and long-term strategy as core positioning
During the event, Solar Steel emphasized that bankability, performance and industrial scalability remain key decision factors in tracker selection across global markets.
In an interview with Review Energy, Solar Steel Deputy CEO Dharma Martín Villarejo highlighted the company’s long-term approach to the market, stressing that reliability is at the core of its strategy. “Bankability is our natural language,” he said, adding that the company focuses on durable products and long-term relationships rather than short-term volume growth.
He also noted that Solar Steel’s strategy is closely linked to engineering strength and R&D investment, particularly in a market environment shaped by geopolitical uncertainty and supply chain pressures. “Innovation as well as long-term vision needs to be at your core,” he said, underlining the importance of rigorous testing before large-scale deployment.
Villarejo also pointed to increasing regulatory complexity in Europe and evolving trade conditions, describing the region as a set of “many different markets” impacted by tariffs and policy changes, while maintaining a positive outlook driven by electrification and battery deployment trends.
TracSmarT+1P evolution and technical improvements
A key focus of Solar Steel’s presence at the event was the presentation of the TracSmarT+1P evolution, designed in collaboration with EPCs, developers and construction stakeholders to address real-world project needs.
The new design introduces octagonal torque tube geometry, improving structural performance and optimizing manufacturing and assembly processes. The redesign increases the share of pre-assembled components, reducing installation time by more than 35% and improving logistics efficiency on site.
The system also eliminates tube-to-tube connections through a swaging solution, reducing component count and simplifying installation.
From a design perspective, the tracker reduces the number of piles required and expands layout flexibility for row length and string configurations, contributing to lower CAPEX and improved long-term O&M performance.
Terrain adaptation and energy performance improvements
The system integrates Solar Steel’s SmarTSlope technology, enabling slope management above 1º between piles and significantly reducing or eliminating the need for earthworks in certain configurations.
In terms of performance, the tracker can be combined with the TracBoost ecosystem, which includes proprietary backtracking technology capable of increasing annual energy production by up to 8%, as well as SmarTHail, designed to reduce damage from extreme weather conditions such as hail.
Agrivoltaics and global deployment strategy
The TracSmarT+1P evolution is also designed to support agrivoltaic applications, offering elevated configurations of up to 2.1 meters of ground clearance to enable combined agricultural and energy use.
Solar Steel highlighted that the system is designed for global deployment across EMEA, LATAM and India, adapting to diverse environments ranging from complex European terrains to desert and coastal conditions.
