Elements Green strengthens its UK storage strategy with the acquisition of Bolney Green

Elements Green has completed the acquisition of the Bolney Green Energy Hub from Envirotech Energy Solutions, following the signing of a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA). With the transaction, Elements Green assumes full ownership of the battery energy storage project located in West Sussex, marking an expansion of its renewable energy portfolio in the United Kingdom.

The Bolney Green Energy Hub, situated near Wineham, is a 148.8 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) with a four-hour duration. The project received planning approval from Mid Sussex District Council in September 2024 and is scheduled to become fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Elements Green was advised on legal matters by Bird & Bird, while Everoze provided technical due diligence services. Envirotech Energy Solutions was advised by Fladgate on legal aspects and by Savills Earth Capital.

Strategic expansion of storage portfolio

The acquisition represents a further step in the expansion of Elements Green’s energy storage assets in the UK. By acquiring the project in full, the company will apply its global development expertise to advance the Bolney Green Energy Hub through construction and into operation, with the aim of supporting the UK’s national electricity grid.

The transaction follows the recent financial close of the 360 MW Staythorpe BESS project in Nottinghamshire, reinforcing Elements Green’s position in the development of large-scale energy infrastructure.

Commenting on the acquisition, Rasmus Friis, CEO of Elements Green, said: “We are thrilled to bring the Bolney Green Energy Hub into the Elements Green portfolio. This four-hour duration project is exactly the type of high-integrity infrastructure needed to support a flexible and reliable renewable energy future. With the SPA now signed, our team is focused on delivering this 148.8 MW asset as part of our wider 13,000 MW global pipeline.”

In a separate statement, Envirotech Energy Solutions Ltd said that its board and shareholders were pleased to have concluded the transaction with Elements Green. The company noted that, following an extended planning process and uncertainties affecting the renewable energy sector in 2025, completing the arrangements ahead of NESO modification offers reflects Elements Green’s confidence in the sector and in the strategic value of the Bolney Green Energy Hub project. Envirotech also stated that Elements Green was its preferred partner, citing its position as a UK-based renewable energy developer operating in the country.
