Jinko ESS, a leading global energy storage company and a subsidiary of JinkoSolar Co., Ltd., is advancing a 220 MWh battery energy storage portfolio in Germany. The portfolio combines green and grey battery energy storage systems coupled with planned photovoltaic capacity and is designed to support a hybrid power purchase agreement (PPA) strategy.

The combination of battery storage and solar generation can create a more flexible and predictable renewable energy profile. By shifting energy across time, balancing variations in photovoltaic output, and responding to market signals, the hybrid portfolio is intended to strengthen the commercial value of renewable generation while supporting grid stability.

The 220 MWh portfolio brings together green BESS capacity directly associated with renewable generation and grey BESS capacity that can provide broader system and market flexibility. Coupling these assets with the planned PV portfolio under a hybrid PPA framework demonstrates an integrated approach to managing generation, storage, and energy delivery.

The hybrid portfolio is built on the Jinko Tera liquid-cooled energy storage system (5.01 MWh). With 3x grid-forming capability for 10 seconds, the system delivers strong instantaneous support under weak-grid and high-dynamic-power conditions, while its black-start and fast frequency-regulation capabilities markedly enhance dynamic stability and grid adaptability. Its tested round-trip conversion efficiency reaches 94.1%, and a 20-year design life further compresses the levelized cost of energy over the full lifecycle.
