Eneco and Google expand their green partnership with a 54 MW wind energy deal
Eneco has expanded its collaboration with Google in the field of renewable energy through a new Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply the company’s data centers in Belgium with wind energy generated by Belgian wind farms.
The power supplied will be generated by three wind farms with a combined capacity of 54 MW.
According to Eneco, the two companies have already signed several solar and wind energy contracts in the Netherlands over the past decade. The wind energy that powers a data center located in the port of Eemshaven, in the province of Groningen, is produced onshore, on Lake IJsselmeer, and in the North Sea.
Google has set an ambitious goal to make its operations entirely carbon-free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by 2030.
To achieve this, the company is investing in green energy from local assets to supply as much renewable power as possible to its data centers.
