Hydrogen ambitions rise in Poland as ORLEN receives €400m grant

ORLEN Group's Green H2 and Hydrogen Eagle programs have received PLN 1.7 billion (approximately €397 million) in non-repayable funding from Poland's National Recovery Plan (KPO). According to the company, this support will be allocated to the production of renewable hydrogen through electrolysis from renewable energy sources (RES) and low-emission hydrogen produced from municipal waste.

Ireneusz Fafara, Chairman of the ORLEN Management Board, stated that "the Hydrogen Eagle and Green H2 projects will allow us to accelerate investments in this area. Thanks to the funds from the National Recovery Plan, we will be able to develop and build infrastructure to produce this fuel more efficiently, thereby strengthening the national and European hydrogen production network."

The grants for ORLEN Group projects were awarded under the third part of the B2.1.1 program "Investments in hydrogen technologies, hydrogen production, storage, and transportation." The competition operator is the National Bank of Economy, and the funds come from the National Recovery Plan, which aims to rebuild the development potential of the economy and enhance its competitiveness.
