DeepBlue 5.0 and BESS solutions: JA SOLAR sets benchmark for solar innovation

At Genera 2025 in Madrid, JA SOLAR showcased its latest innovations for the European solar market, highlighting both advanced energy storage systems and next-generation photovoltaic modules. Javier Alonso Iracheta, Senior Sales Manager at JA SOLAR, shared insights with Review Energy about the company’s ongoing leadership in self-consumption solutions, commercial and industrial storage, and sustainable high-efficiency PV technology.

Expanding Self-Consumption and Storage Solutions

JA SOLAR presented its new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) designed for C&I projects, already piloted in Italy. The system optimizes solar self-consumption, manages power demand with AI-based forecasting, and enables revenue generation through ancillary market participation, achieving estimated energy cost reductions of 6–12%.

Javier Alonso Iracheta explained, “At Genera, we are seeing that the self-consumption market has stabilized over the last few years. JA SOLAR continues to strengthen its position in this sector, supported by our distributors and comprehensive product portfolio.”

The BESS incorporates advanced protection with three-stage fuses, a three-level fire safety system, and real-time thermal monitoring, ensuring ±1.5°C operational consistency. Predictive AI-based maintenance enables over 90% of issues to be diagnosed and resolved remotely, improving reliability and uptime. With modular LFP batteries and 88% round-trip efficiency, the system supports rapid component replacement and scalable expansion.

DeepBlue 5.0: Next-Generation TOPCon Modules

Another highlight at Genera was the DeepBlue 5.0 module, based on n-type Bycium+ 5.0 cells with TOPCon architecture. The modules deliver up to 670W with 24.8% conversion efficiency, low annual degradation, and bifaciality of 85±5%. “This year, we are presenting new technologies, including the DeepBlue 5.0 modules. With these improvements at wafer, cell, and module level, we are achieving efficiency gains of over 1% across the full product range,” Alonso Iracheta said.

These high-performance modules maximize energy yield while maintaining reliability under challenging conditions. JA SOLAR’s fully automated Yangzhou facility ensures consistent global quality, further strengthening the company’s utility-scale, commercial, and residential project portfolio.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability remains a core strategy for JA SOLAR. “Sustainability at JA SOLAR is applied across the entire value chain, from manufacturing to the full life cycle of our products. Our Low Carbon series reduces the carbon footprint by up to 40% compared to standard Chinese modules, using FBR silicon and recycled materials,” Alonso Iracheta emphasized.

The company’s initiatives include circular economy practices, production processes where PFAS have not been detected, water conservation, biodiversity protection, and international certifications such as SSI Silver and EcoVadis Silver, validating JA SOLAR’s ESG performance.

Leading Projects and Market Presence

JA SOLAR’s solutions have already been implemented in high-profile projects, including Signal Iduna Park in Germany, which will host the world’s most powerful stadium rooftop PV installation with more than 11,000 modules generating over 4 GWh annually. In 2024, JA SOLAR has reached a new record for PV module deliveries in Spain, reconfirming itself as the leader in the market.

By combining advanced energy storage solutions, next-generation PV modules, and a holistic approach to sustainability, JA SOLAR reinforced its position as a leader in the European solar market at Genera 2025. The company’s continued innovation, strong distributor network, and commitment to maximizing energy efficiency provide a clear roadmap for growth and reliable, responsible solar solutions across Spain and the rest of Europe.
