KEY 2026 returns to Rimini, setting the agenda for the global energy transition

The global energy transition will once again have its major meeting point at KEY – The Energy Transition Expo 2026, to be held from 4 to 6 March 2026 at the Rimini Expo Centre (Italy). Organised by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the event will bring together leading players from the European, African and Mediterranean energy sectors to analyse the main challenges of the decarbonisation process. Review Energy will attend as media partner, conducting interviews with key industry leaders and reporting live from the heart of one of the world’s leading international forums on clean energy, efficiency and energy transition.

In its fourth edition, KEY 2026 strengthens its international ambition and consolidates its role as a strategic hub for dialogue, innovation and cooperation among companies, institutions, developers, investors and energy experts. Under the motto “Efficiency as the driving force of the green revolution”, the event will place energy efficiency at the centre of the debate, highlighting its crucial role in accelerating the transition across both industrial and residential sectors.

For the first time, the exhibition will occupy the entire Rimini exhibition centre, featuring a new layout that will integrate seven major exhibition areas, vertical thematic spaces and dedicated zones for innovation, talent and green skills. The aim is to provide a comprehensive and integrated vision of the energy ecosystem, spanning renewable energy, electrification, storage, electric mobility and sustainable cities.

Among the main sectors represented are solar photovoltaics, wind power, energy storage, energy efficiency, electric mobility and sustainable cities, alongside new strategic areas. These include HYPE – Hydrogen Power Expo, dedicated to hydrogen and organised in partnership with Hannover Fairs International; Su.port – Sustainable Ports for Energy Transition, focused on port electrification, cold ironing and the role of ports as logistical hubs for offshore renewables and hydrogen; and the Innovation District, which will bring together innovative startups and SMEs from the green sector, while also promoting employability through the Green Jobs & Skills programme.

Energy efficiency will be one of the core pillars of the event, with an expanded area dedicated to solutions for optimising energy consumption in buildings, industry and infrastructure. This space will include the Sustainable Building District, in collaboration with Green Building Council Italia, as well as the participation of Federcostruzioni, a new event partner representing the entire value chain of the Italian construction sector.

KEY 2026 will also enhance its conference programme, featuring a packed agenda of conferences, round tables and technical sessions focused on training, knowledge-sharing and professional development. Within this framework, the event will once again launch its Call for Papers, open to universities, companies, research centres and associations. Selected contributions will be published in a special issue of the scientific journal QualEnergia Science, which will be officially presented during the exhibition.

The international scope of the event will be further strengthened through a strategic focus on Europe, North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, the Balkans and Turkey, with particular attention to key markets such as Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland and Serbia. This international outreach has been supported by a global roadshow that has already visited Cairo, Belgrade and Warsaw, reinforcing KEY’s international profile and its ability to generate cross-border business opportunities.

As a prelude to the exhibition, on 3 March 2026, the KEY CHOICE – Unlock the Future of PPAs event will take place at the Rimini Conference Centre. This B2B meeting, organised by IEG in collaboration with Elemens, will focus on power purchase agreements (PPAs). In parallel with KEY, a new edition of DPE – International Electricity Expo will also be held, dedicated to the electricity generation, transmission, distribution, safety and automation ecosystem.

With this comprehensive offering, KEY 2026 aims to consolidate its position as one of the world’s leading platforms for advancing the energy transition, fostering cross-sector dialogue, technological innovation and international cooperation to build a more sustainable, efficient and resilient energy system.
