Uniper Renewables reinforces position as reliable partner for Italy’s clean energy market

At KEY Energy 2026, held from March 4–6 at the Rimini Expo Center, Uniper Renewables showcased its commitment to advancing clean energy across Europe. With a strategic focus on wind, solar, and co-located storage solutions, the company is steadily advancing its development pipeline across key markets including Germany, the UK & Ireland, France, Italy, and Poland.

According to Federico Cardini, Country Manager of Uniper Renewables, the evolution of the Italian solar market shows sustained growth in large-scale projects, even as residential and C&I segments face some contraction. “We see this trend very positively, as it aligns perfectly with our strategy for utility-scale renewable development. It confirms that our expansion goals are on track across Europe and in Italy,” Cardini explained at Rimini.

Strategy focused on flexibility and sustainability

Uniper prioritizes providing end customers with a diverse and flexible energy mix, integrating solar, storage, and other renewable technologies to tailor supply profiles to specific needs. “Integrating our infrastructure with storage is key to reshaping energy profiles suitable for end users,” Cardini said, highlighting how flexibility helps manage the impact of fluctuating energy prices across Europe.

Currently, Uniper has several projects under construction, with the first ones scheduled to become operational this year, demonstrating its ability to deliver fully operational , grid-connected renewable assets. The company stands out not only as a developer but also as a long-term partner, offering co-development models, land-lease solutions, and tailored PPAs and Guarantees of Origin for industrial and commercial clients.

Strategic presence at KEY Energy 2026

Unlike many exhibitors, Uniper Renewables opted not to set up a dedicated stand, instead bringing its full development and technical construction teams to maximize interactions and knowledge exchange at the event. “We are here in force, actively engaging and connecting with other exhibitors and leveraging every opportunity to strengthen our network and explore new opportunities,” said Cardini, noting that KEY Energy continues to consolidate its position as Italy’s premier energy event year after year.

Market trends and strategic adaptation Across Europe, the company observes that energy prices and project profitability are experiencing significant fluctuations, including occasional negative pricing. To mitigate these challenges, Uniper focuses on storage solutions and intelligent integration of multiple renewable sources, ensuring a reliable and adaptable supply for end users.

“We are convinced that storage and integration are essential to redesign an energy profile that truly serves the end user,” Cardini concluded, emphasizing that this flexibility will be critical for maintaining competitiveness and resilience in the European renewable sector.

With its integrated approach and established presence in strategic markets, Uniper Renewables reaffirmed in Rimini its role as a key player in Europe’s energy transition, combining execution capacity, technological innovation, and long-term stakeholder relationships.
