Acciona advances its 235 MW Kentucky solar project
Acciona Energía will begin earthworks in the coming weeks for its 235MWp Fleming solar plant in Kentucky, United States, marking a key milestone ahead of the project's planned commissioning in May 2028.
Located in Fleming County, the facility will become the company's fifth photovoltaic plant and 18th renewable asset in the United States. Acciona Energía currently operates 3GW of installed renewable capacity across the country, including solar photovoltaic, wind, concentrated solar power and energy storage assets.
The company said the project will deliver significant economic benefits to the local community by prioritising the use of local businesses, suppliers and service providers during both the construction and operational phases.
At peak construction, the project is expected to support up to 300 local jobs. The solar plant will also increase tax revenues for Fleming County, helping to strengthen funding for public services and local infrastructure.
During the project's development phase, Acciona Energía has also supported local fire departments and community organisations through donations and social investments. The company said this commitment will continue throughout the construction and operation of the facility under its Social Impact Management Programme, which focuses on education, health and well-being, environmental protection and other community development initiatives.
