Automa brings Brazilian innovation and DNV expertise to accelerate Italy’s energy transition

Automa, a Brazilian leader in digital solutions for the energy sector, marked its first international event as part of the DNV ecosystem at KEY – The Energy Transition Expo 2026 in Rimini. The company showcased how its integration with DNV is creating a vertically integrated digital platform, offering end-to-end solutions across generation, transmission, and distribution.

Vertical integration: from Brazil to Europe

According to Evandro Carvalho, COO of Automa, the partnership with DNV allows the company to scale its expertise globally while maintaining its identity. “Automa has been a leader in Brazil for over 20 years, developing solutions from small to large utility-scale plants. As part of DNV, we now have global reach and trust, but Automa keeps its leadership team, engineering DNA, and innovation culture intact,” Carvalho explained.

The vertical integration means that Automa now contributes specialized know-how in transmission and distribution substation operations, complementing DNV’s portfolio in renewable monitoring and digital solutions. Together, the group has assembled a team of 1,200 energy specialists, creating a one-stop-shop for utilities and energy players navigating the energy transition.

Driving efficiency and the energy transition

Automa’s cutting-edge digital solutions are designed to enhance efficiency and accelerate the adoption of clean energy. “Our systems help energy companies operate more efficiently while moving toward cleaner, renewable services,” Carvalho said.

In Italy, where hybrid PV + storage projects are expanding rapidly, Automa already has multiple installations, particularly in the south of the country. The company’s technology supports optimization of energy production, integration with storage systems, and curtailment management, ensuring that hybrid plants operate at maximum efficiency.

Market trends and digitalization

Giorgio Inforzato, Sales Director EU of Automa, highlighted the trends shaping the Italian and European markets. “Italy is moving strongly toward hybrid systems, supported by government incentives like the MAX package for storage systems and the Fer X decree for solar investment. Investors are increasingly seeking to optimize the combined output of PV plants and storage systems,” he said.

Curtailment remains a challenge across Europe. In response, Automa leverages its Scada systems and energy management software to centralize and process data from PV, storage, hydro, and wind systems. Inforzato explained that AI and cloud-based control centers allow operators, utilities, and IPPs to optimize performance, reduce energy losses, and manage integration with the grid, positioning Automa as a leading solution for hybrid plant efficiency.

A Brazilian technology with global ambitions

Automa brings over 20 years of experience in Brazil, monitoring around 60 GW of renewable capacity worldwide and a third of Brazil’s electricity. Its integration with DNV accelerates global expansion, combining Brazilian technological expertise with DNV’s international footprint. The company expects to more than double its size in the coming years, reinforcing its role as a digital powerhouse for energy transformation.

At KEY Energy 2026, Automa demonstrated how its combination of local expertise and global reach positions the company to support hybrid and renewable energy projects across Europe, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and resilience in the evolving energy landscape.
