ESET Solar targets Europe's evolving solar market with high-rigidity tracker technology


As utility-scale solar projects become larger and increasingly diverse across Europe, tracker manufacturers are facing new engineering challenges. Beyond maximizing energy yield, developers are placing greater emphasis on structural resilience, adaptation to local regulations and reliable regional supply chains. 

Speaking with Review Energy during Intersolar Europe 2026, Pedro Romero, Europe Regional Sales Director at ESET Solar, and Frank Wang, Pre-Sales Technical Director, explained how these trends are shaping both the company's product roadmap and its European growth strategy. 

Engineering for stronger, more resilient trackers 

One of the main technologies showcased by ESET Solar in Munich was its flagship tracker ESEEK Steady featuring the company's Every Post Locking (EPL) system, developed to increase structural rigidity without adding mechanical complexity. 

According to Wang, the concept was born from a simple engineering challenge: as solar modules become larger and tracker rows longer, maintaining structural stability becomes increasingly difficult. 

"We design from a safety-first perspective," he explained. "Instead of adding additional locking mechanisms or shortening the span with extra components, every post becomes a locking point. That makes the tracker much stiffer while keeping the design simple." 

Unlike conventional single-lock systems, the architecture distributes torsional loads generated by wind across every support post instead of concentrating them at a single central point. 

"Rather than one post absorbing the entire torsional load, ten or eleven posts share it," Wang said. "That significantly reduces the peak load on each individual post and improves the rigidity of the entire structure." 

Beyond structural performance, the design also aims to simplify installation and long-term maintenance. Several components are pre-assembled before arriving on site, reducing construction time while making future replacements easier if required. 

Preparing for more extreme weather 

Climate resilience is becoming an increasingly important purchasing criterion for developers, particularly as utility-scale projects expand into regions exposed to stronger winds and more variable weather conditions. 

Pedro Romero explained that ESET Solar has continued reinforcing its tracker designs to address these challenges. "Our diamond torque tube tracker incorporates a very strong 60-degree stow position with direct metal-to-metal contact between the torque tube and the support," he said. "This creates an extremely robust configuration capable of resisting wind speeds above 50 meters per second." 

The company also emphasizes structural performance during normal operation. "Our trackers can continue operating under higher wind conditions than many conventional designs, allowing longer production windows before entering stow mode," Romero added. 

To validate these designs, Wang noted that every new tracker platform undergoes extensive wind tunnel testing in collaboration with CPP Wind Engineering before commercial deployment. 

A broader portfolio for an increasingly diverse Europe 

While many tracker manufacturers pursue standardized products, ESET Solar believes Europe's diversity increasingly requires application-specific solutions. 

Agrivoltaic installations, for example, often require taller tracker configurations to accommodate agricultural activities beneath the modules, while other markets prioritize compact designs optimized for different terrain or installation conditions. 

"Our advanced agrivoltaic trackers share the same engineering principles as our standard one-in-portrait platforms but incorporate reinforced structures that make installation easier while supporting higher mounting heights," Wang explained. 

According to Romero, adapting products to regional requirements has become essential as project characteristics vary significantly across the continent. 

"In France, for example, we're developing taller two-in-portrait trackers, while other Eastern European markets demand more conventional one-in-portrait configurations," he said. "Soil conditions also change considerably, which is why we've developed modular pile solutions that can be adapted very easily from one country to another." 

Rather than relying on a single tracker platform, ESET Solar continues expanding a broad portfolio capable of addressing different project typologies across Europe. 

Building a localized European presence 

The company is also strengthening its regional manufacturing strategy to better support European customers amid evolving supply chain requirements. 

Although China remains ESET Solar's primary manufacturing hub, the company has expanded production capacity beyond Asia to increase flexibility and respond to changing market conditions. 

"We already have manufacturing capabilities in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and we're supplying European projects from there," Romero explained. "For Italy, for example, we've already delivered structural components from that facility." 

The company is also evaluating additional manufacturing partnerships in Turkey as part of its longer-term localization strategy. 

"We're prepared for different regulatory scenarios," Romero said. "Whether through local suppliers, joint ventures or our own production facilities, the objective is to ensure we can continue supporting customers regardless of future local-content requirements." 

Growth focused on Europe's fastest-moving markets 

From a commercial perspective, ESET Solar sees significant opportunities across multiple European regions, although market dynamics differ substantially from country to country. 

"The European market is mature, but every country is different," Romero said. "That's why our strategy cannot be the same everywhere." 

The company is currently prioritizing fast-growing markets such as Italy and several countries in Eastern Europe while simultaneously strengthening relationships with major international developers active across Spain, Germany and France. 

"We want to increase ESET Solar's presence with the largest global developers operating in Europe," he concluded. "That's one of the main reasons why Intersolar remains such an important event for us."
