FTC Solar brings constructability, terrain adaptability and robotics into focus at Intersolar Europe 2026


At Intersolar Europe 2026, the utility-scale solar industry came together around one clear reality: the next phase of solar growth will depend not only on how much capacity can be developed, but on how efficiently, safely and predictably projects can be built.

This is where FTC Solar is focusing its tracker innovation.

Its intuitive architecture, flexible installation sequencing and low training requirement are built to support crews in the field and help EPCs deliver more repeatable installation outcomes.

This message resonated strongly at Intersolar Europe, where developers, EPCs and project stakeholders continue to evaluate technologies not only for performance, but also for their ability to reduce construction risk. As projects move into more challenging geographies and face tighter delivery expectations, tracker systems must be designed to support real-world field execution.

Beyond tracker hardware, FTC Solar used Intersolar Europe to emphasize a broader theme: the future of solar construction will be shaped by practical innovation. For FTC Solar, that includes AI, automation and robotics, not as distant concepts, but as tools that can help solve real field challenges.

The company continued this discussion through its inaugural Robo Day initiative at its ASTAAR training facility in Seguin, Texas, USA. The event gave robotics providers, EPCs, developers and other industry participants a practical setting to examine how automation can be applied to utility-scale PV construction.

Companies including Aonics, BotCrew, Civ Robotics, Cosmic Robotics, Libra Robotics, Ozzies, Inc. and RoboForce participated in the event, showcasing technologies that can support different parts of the construction process, from site layout and material movement to cable handling and module-related work.

Robo Day reinforced an important point: robotics is not about replacing people. It is about supporting them. Robotic systems can help take on tasks that are repetitive, labor-intensive or accuracy-sensitive, while field teams continue to lead the work that requires judgment, supervision, safety awareness and construction experience.

The event also highlighted the role of tracker design in enabling future construction workflows. FTC Solar’s 1P Pioneer tracker platform is engineered around constructability, with an easy-to-install architecture, flexible installation sequencing and a low training requirement. These attributes support today’s crews while also creating a more consistent foundation for automation-enabled workflows.
