The members of Italia Solare have elected a new board of directors to lead the association during the 2026-2029 term, while unanimously re-electing Paolo Rocco Viscontini as president for a fourth consecutive mandate.

The newly appointed board represents a broad cross-section of Italy's photovoltaic sector, bringing together companies and professionals from across the solar value chain, including developers, investors, plant owners, technical experts and institutional stakeholders.

The board comprises Marcello Astolfi, Marco Gennaro Balzano, Andrea Brumgnach, Alessandro Caffarelli, Daniela Carriera, Stefano Cavriani, Claudio Conti, Alberto Cuter, Stefano Domenicali, Francesco Emmolo, Fulvio Ferrari, Enrico Lamanna, Giovanna Licata, Tiziano Mariani, Marco Mazzi, Annarita Mitola, Mauro Moroni, Valerio Natalizia, Laura Onnis, Attilio Piattelli, Emiliano Pizzini, Gianluca Proietti, Rolando Roberto, Andrea Rovera, Maria Sabella, Emilio Sani, Andrea Voigt and Andrea Zanotti.

The election concludes a three-year mandate during which Italia Solare strengthened its institutional role and expanded its membership from 1,136 in 2023 to 1,522 in 2026. Over the same period, the association organized more than 60 events attended by over 15,000 participants and held 155 technical working group meetings focused on legislative, regulatory, technical and market developments. Since May 2026, the association has also served on the Board of Directors of SolarPower Europe as the representative of European national solar associations and currently holds one of the vice-presidencies of the Global Solar Council.

“We are handing over to the new Board of Directors an association that has grown in membership, expertise and its ability to represent the sector,” said Paolo Rocco Viscontini. “Over the past three years, we have expanded services for our members, strengthened our dialogue with national and regional institutions, and consolidated a more authoritative presence at the European level. The most important achievement is a community capable of sharing experience, knowledge and concrete proposals.”

Looking ahead, Viscontini said the association will support “the transition from a market focused exclusively on energy production to a system in which generation, storage, consumption, flexibility and intelligent energy management are increasingly integrated.”

“In this scenario, energy storage systems will represent a cross-cutting technology, becoming a central element across the residential, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale segments,” he added.

Among Italia Solare's priorities for the 2026-2029 term are streamlining permitting procedures, advancing the regulatory framework for eligible areas, reforming grid connection rules, accelerating self-consumption and renewable energy communities, supporting the integration of energy storage and strengthening the competitiveness of Europe's photovoltaic manufacturing industry.

The association also plans to expand its activities in digitalization, artificial intelligence and smart grids, while promoting new market models that enable producers, consumers and energy operators to participate more actively in electricity trading, flexibility markets and grid services. It will also continue promoting the integration of solar PV with storage, electric heating, energy efficiency and electric mobility as buildings increasingly evolve into integrated energy systems.
