Diálogos para la transición energética y nuevas estrategias de hidrógeno verde: temas clave de la semana
La Presidencia de los EAU de la COP28 y la Agencia Internacional de Energía (IEA, por sus siglas en inglés) han convocado el primero de una serie histórica de diálogos de alto nivel hasta la COP28 en torno a la construcción de una transición energética alineada con 1,5 °C. La iniciativa se lleva a cabo en conjunto con la Agencia Internacional de Energías Renovables (IRENA, por sus siglas en inglés) y cuenta con el apoyo de la Convención Marco de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Cambio Climático (CMNUCC).
Los diálogos tienen como objetivo generar consenso sobre las vías de transición energética compatibles con 1,5 °C y las condiciones favorables necesarias para lograrlas, así como impulsar los resultados energéticos objetivo para la COP28.
Rhode Island Energy has decided that it will not be moving forward on a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Orsted and Eversource for the companies’ joint offshore wind proposal, known as Revolution Wind 2, which would have added 600 to 1000 megawatts of clean energy to the state’s electric grid.
The decision comes after a thorough, four-month evaluation of the bid, which was completed in consultation with the Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) and the Division of Public Utilities and Carriers (Division). Rhode Island Energy said the proposal did not meet all the requirements as detailed in the Affordable Clean Energy Security (ACES) Act.
4. Germany updates its national hydrogen strategy
The German cabinet approved an updated hydrogen strategy, setting guidelines for hydrogen production and transport infrastructure plans as Europe's largest economy aims to become climate-neutral by 2045.
According to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, Robert Habeck, "by updating the National Hydrogen Strategy, we are setting the framework for the new phase in the hydrogen market ramp-up, which we have consistently initiated since taking office: from research and demonstration to large-scale production. Investing in hydrogen is an investment in our future. In climate protection, in qualified jobs and the security of energy supply. The updating of the hydrogen strategy gives these investments a reliable basis and sets the course for close cooperation with our partners in Europe and around the world. In order to successfully implement the strategy, we are also currently working flat out to create the necessary infrastructure."
El ministro de Energía, Diego Pardow, puso en conocimiento del sector las acciones que están desarrollando el Servicio de Evaluación Ambiental (SEA), el Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional (CEN), la Comisión Nacional de Energía (CNE), Corfo y la propia cartera, para fomentar inversiones de sistemas de almacenamiento que permitan avanzar en el proceso de transición energética.
Pardow, lideró la ceremonia de 'Lanzamiento de Medidas para la Promoción del Almacenamiento', instancia en la cual se dieron a conocer una serie de acciones que están implementando distintas instituciones para fomentar la inversión en sistemas de almacenamiento de energía renovable.
